Taylor Swift has taken aim at Kim Kardashian in a brand new song from her hotly anticipated album, The Tortured Poets Department. The songstress finally released her eleventh studio album ahead of the UK and European leg of her sell-out The Eras Tour.
As the release of her extended double album hit stores, one particular song caught the attention of fans who believe it is about the 34-year-old reality TV star. The track's title, 'thanK you aIMee', seemingly singles out Kim in capital letters.
Lyrics include: "There's a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it. That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school." Taylor has previously opened up about the pair’s feud, where she claimed it "took her down psychologically".
In an interview with TIME Magazine, where was named the publication’s Person of the Year 2023, Taylor commented on the bad blood between them. She also described the fallout of Kanye West’s lyrics about her in his 2016 song Famous, which include: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that b**** famous."
The rapper claimed the popstar had approved the lyrics, which she has denied, as reported the Mirror US. It later emerged West did not send Swift the full lyrics.
Speaking to TIME Magazine, Taylor described that point in her life as a “career death”. She explained: "Make no mistake - my career was taken away from me.
"You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before.
"I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."
In 2020, Kim admitted in a series of social media posts that the tension between her now-ex husband and Taylor forced her to “defend him”. In another lyric from 'thanK you aIMee', Taylor seems to hit out at Kim's 10-year-old daughter North West.
She sings: "And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues. And one day, your kid comes home singin' a song that only us two is gonna know is about you."
