A new vegan pop-up will be serving food for two months in Easton. The ‘Dirty Vegans’ duo - Barbara 'Babs' Doherty and Georgina 'Gigi' Gore Browne - began as a food delivery service in 2020 in Barcelona but are now bringing their brand to the UK, starting in Bristol.
For now, they are making themselves at home at Chai Guy in St Mark's Road for two months, launching on April 28. The pair sell vegan sandwiches, including the 'saucy steak' and the 'chunky chick'n'. And they are offering customers who turn up for their launchon Sunday between 10am-4pm a 50 per cent discount.
The friends met while still meat-eaters and working in nine-to-five office jobs in Barcelona. Bahram Ehsas opened Chai Guy on St Marks Road in December - and like Babs and Gigi - started his food business in Barcelona during the pandemic.

They will now all be working together at Chai Guy from Sunday until June 30, with plans for the first UK branch to open in Bristol later this year.
Babs said: “We say ‘you don’t have to be vegan, just a little bit dirty' because a lot of meat eaters have a pre-judgement about vegan food. We are very inclusive, we don't think everyone has to be vegan. Do whatever you want, it’s not my business what you put in your mouth but if you want to come and try our food then grand.”
For the first week of the pop-up they plan on staying open every day from 8am until 3pm. Plans are already in place tor a permanent Bristol branch- set to be the first in the UK.
Babs and Gigi added:“We always said that one day we would work together but we just didn't know our story would start in Bristol and not Barcelona. And so the planning began for our two-month stint in the vegan capital of the UK!
“We offer mouth-watering sandwiches that even the meat eaters can't get enough off and Chai Guy makes the best chai in town so really it's a match made in heaven. A dirty sandwich + chai = a long time love affair.”
