Netflix subscribers are heaping praise on a thriller series, with some so impressed they're saying it is the best series they've ever watched in their entire life. The series people are raving about is called Dark.
It originally came out on Netflix back in 2020, but has had a resurgence in popularity recently. A synopsis of the German thriller series reads: "A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations."
On Rotten Tomatoes, Dark has been given an impressive rating of 95%. On IMDb, it has received a score of 8.7 out of 10. Many viewers have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the show.
On Facebook, Tim Matthews posted: "The best. THE BEST. In my 54 years, this IS the best series I’ve EVER watched. It smashes everything. I love quality, of a story, of acting, the whole thing. THIS has it, as a television series."
Antonia Eilander added: "It’s amazing. I usually know what is going to happen in films/ series. But this one wasn’t predictable. Absolute masterpiece." Amber Aitken-Fussell put: "Easily one of the best shows I’ve ever watched."
Chloe Mclachlan said: "This is the best series on Netflix. But if you plan on watching it you really have to pay attention…no scrolling on your phone, if you miss a second you’ll be lost." Another penned: "I've binge-watched this twice now. It's that good."
Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, RasoulHK commented: "Is Dark the best series ever? I can strongly say, this is one of the greatest shows ever made till date and it may even stand top in the list. I just bow down to the creators of Dark for churning out a series like Dark, because it needs a genius touch to narrate a complex story."
Everymovieplug added: "This is the best Netflix TV show I've ever seen in recent years." However, some viewers have said the series was very complicated and not that easy to follow.
ThonyBlack01 admitted: "It was mindblowing and confusing af. I spent hours studying the family tree." Dark even has its own website, where fans can do their own research into the show's family tree.
The science fiction thriller series was co-created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. It ran for three seasons from 2017 to 2020.
