There is currently slow traffic on the M4 following a vehicle fire tonight (Saturday, April 20). The incident occurred westbound between junction 22 for M49 and Avonmouth and junction 23 for Chepstow after 7pm.
Traffic was held on the westbound side of the motorway for some time before lanes two and three were reopened. Traffic England is reporting long delays in the area, with one lane still closed.
An update from Inrix reads: "One lane closed due on M4 Westbound at J22 M49." National Highways has shared: "Traffic has been released on the #M4 westbound between J22 M49. Avonmouth and J23 Chepstow Lane 1(of 3) remains closed for recovery and clear up."
Elsewhere on the M4, the eastbound entry slip road is currently closed due to emergency barrier repairs at J19 M32 for Bristol. Traffic cameras show the congestion in the affected areas.
