"Essential" roadworks are expected to cause disruption on a key route in Keynsham this week. Resurfacing works are due to commence tonight (Monday, April 15) on Bath Hill, which will also require the closure of two neighbouring car parks.
Bath & North East Somerset Council has urged road users to plan ahead as the five-day scheme, which will necessitate a 12-hour closure every night and into the morning. A full road closure will be in place between 7pm and 7am each day, starting tonight, with a target completion date of Saturday (April 20).
The authority advises that the works have been scheduled during the night to reduce disruption along Bath Hill, which links Wellsway and Bath Road to the centre of Keynsham. Bath Hill East and Fox and Hounds car parks will also be closed between 7pm and 7am for the duration of the works.

A council spokesperson said: "The council is resurfacing 3,448m 2 of highway during the works, bringing an area of highway equivalent to 13 tennis courts back to a high standard, including both roundabouts near Keynsham Memorial Park. Lining works will also be completed."
Warning signs are in place notifying motorists of the closures and will remain in place throughout the works. The council also confirmed that customers paying for their parking via MiPermit will also be notified. Alternative parking options in Keynsham can be found on the council’s website.
Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member for transport, said: “We’re keeping disruption to a minimum by carrying out these works during overnight closures, meaning the road can be open for peak travel times. We know these types of works can be an inconvenience, but they are essential to keep our highway network at a high standard.”
According to roadworks map One.Network, the diversion route will take motorists via the A4 Keynsham Bypass and back down the A4175 and delays are "likely". The closure is between the junctions with the Wellsway and Bath Road at one end, and with the High Street in the other.
