Achieving Hi-Res Audio certification with a soft dome tweeter was a true challenge. Many tweeters achieve certification using rigid dome materials, making reaching the required high-frequency performance easier. We aimed to create a soft dome tweeter capable of extending its frequency response up to 40kHz—and we succeeded!
Audison R&D did not take the easy path – they reached the extremes of tweeter performance while retaining the internal damping of a soft dome tweeter. This allows the low-frequency performance which has become synonymous with Audison tweeters, and delivers the off-axis upper midrange warmth that is so often lacking in automotive speaker systems.
This certification applies to all tweeters, two-way systems, and coaxial models in the VOCE II range, confirming the exceptional precision and detail in audio reproduction. The development process of the VOCE II line was conducted using advanced FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation tools, allowing precise modeling of each component’s acoustic performance. This approach optimizes frequency response and sound dispersion, minimizing distortion and ensuring clear, natural sound in every listening environment. For the tweeters, FEM was particularly crucial in achieving Hi-Res Audio certification by enabling precise adjustments to the dome geometry and magnetic assembly. This ensured optimal high-frequency extension up to 40 kHz, providing detailed, accurate sound reproduction and improved off-axis response, ideal for in-car listening.
Every detail in the VOCE II line has been crafted with the finest materials, carefully chosen to ensure exceptional acoustic performance and refined aesthetics. The cones and inverted dust caps are made from semi-pressed paper, delivering an ideal balance of stiffness and lightness for accurate, responsive sound. Many dome materials that may have a more exotic appearance have poor internal damping and breakup modes, resulting in audible distortion in the vital upper-midrange frequencies. Audison’s tweeter Tetolon dome – a combination of silk and cotton – allows it to meet Hi-Res Audio standards, while retaining the internal damping of a soft dome tweeter. This allows the low-frequency performance which has become synonymous with Audison tweeters, and delivers the off-axis upper midrange warmth that is so often lacking in automotive speaker systems. The construction of each component features an all-metal design, including covers and embossed logos, combining durability with a premium feel. Additionally, VOCE II packaging reflects a commitment to sustainability, with green interior materials to minimize environmental impact while ensuring that each product reaches its destination safely.

Every element of VOCE II is designed not only for performance but also to make a visual statement, bringing an unmistakable touch of Italian elegance to any installation.
VOCE II incorporates eID, Elettromedia Group’s exclusive traceability technology. Each product is assigned an eID code linked to its serial number upon passing quality control checks. A laser-etched DataMatrix is then applied, designating the product’s destination country or market at the time of shipment.
By scanning the eID code, users can access technical, manufacturing, and logistical information, as well as register the product to receive an additional year of warranty coverage.
The eID technology ensures that every VOCE II component is authenticated, giving users confidence in the product’s origin and quality.
A crucial phase of the VOCE II line’s development involved validation through comparative listening tests. Each component was rigorously tested in various configurations, both in test enclosures and in cars, to guarantee optimal performance under all conditions. These listening sessions further refined the design, ensuring the VOCE II line delivers an authentic and uncompromising sound experience.
The Audison VOCE II line offers dual connection options, providing flexibility and versatility. Woofer and coaxial are equipped with both an OEM-style automotive connector and traditional Faston connectors. This option allows the installer to choose the connection method best suited to the specific project’s needs. The availability of both connections simplifies and streamlines the installation process. Thanks to this feature, installers can work more efficiently without constraints, ensuring optimal results in both sound performance and vehicle integration. The dual connection option represents another step toward customization and adaptability, meeting the needs of every car audio enthusiast.
The Audison AV 1.1 II tweeter was developed with a no-compromise approach, aiming for maximum performance in high-frequency reproduction. Every detail, from the materials used to the geometry of the magnetic assembly, was carefully studied to achieve exceptional acoustic performance, ensuring detailed and accurate sound reproduction even in the most demanding listening conditions.
The AV 1.1 II uses a larger chamber, which improves the impedance and damping characteristics and delivers an even-lower resonant frequency. This allows an even lower crossover frequency “handoff” to the 6.5″ woofer – a key design element of Audison speakers. A 6.5″ in a car door often struggles in the upper midrange, and most tweeters can’t play low enough to take up the difference.
AV 1.1 II plays more than an octave lower than other tweeters in its class!
Beyond sound quality, the tweeters in the VOCE II line come with distinctive design elements, including an elegant mesh grille and a custom texture spoke grille for a refined, modern look. Additionally, each component includes a full set of installation accessories, making the installation process easier and ensuring a perfect fit in any vehicle.
At the heart of the VOCE AV 1.1 II is a powerful N38 H-grade Neodymium magnet, selected for its high magnetic flux density and superior thermal stability compared to standard magnets. This ensures exceptional dynamics and minimal distortion across the high-frequency spectrum, extending up to 40 kHz, allowing the tweeter to achieve Hi-Res Audio certification. The 28 mm CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminum Wire) voice coil is wound on an aluminum former, chosen for its heat dissipation properties and ability to provide optimal acoustic damping. The single-layer coil offers balanced electrical resistance, reducing dynamic compression and improving transient response for consistently clean and natural sound, even at high volumes.
One of the key elements for high-frequency reproduction is the Tetolon dome, developed through advanced material characterization and vibro-acoustic simulations. The R&D team analyzed various types of material, evaluating their density and damping treatments, to select the one best suited to deliver smooth, natural response across the high-frequency spectrum. After selecting the optimal material, the designers created several dome profiles, which were tested in combination with various geometric parameters of the tweeter, eventually choosing the profile that offered the best performance in terms of frequency and phase response. This process resulted in a soft-dome tweeter capable of obtaining Hi-Res certification, delivering a smooth and detailed sound with an immersive sound stage.
The structure of the AV 1.1 II tweeter was designed to combine elegance and functionality. The faceplate was engineered to minimize acoustic impact and ensure optimal high-frequency dispersion, both on- and off-axis, making this tweeter ideal for in-car installation. The included mesh and spoke grilles add a touch of refinement and protection while ensuring that sound remains clear and interference-free. Additionally, the tweeter features AIF (Any Install Faceplate) technology, which simplifies installation and offers maximum flexibility in any configuration.
The AIF (Any Install Faceplate) technology provides extraordinary flexibility for OEM integration, offering two different types of faceplates to suit any installation scenario:
1. OEM: Ideal for simple and precise factory placement.
2. Mesh Grille: Designed for the best compromise between protection and performance, ideal for A-pillar installations.

2. Double-angle cup: For custom installations with different angles.
3. Flush Mounting Ring: For a clean, discreet flush installation.
4. Metal mounting spring: For stable, secure mounting.
This range of accessories and mounting options allows installers to adapt the VOCE II tweeters to any environment, ensuring the best possible sound performance.
Each VOCE II product includes pre-wired cables for quick, reliable installation, along with aluminum bi-adhesive AUDISON logos, allowing users to add a distinctive, personalized touch.
The human auditory system is particularly sensitive to midrange frequencies, as this is where the voice becomes intelligible compared to the rest of the audio spectrum. Starting from this principle, the Audison R&D team designed AV 3.0 II mid-range and AV 6.5 P II mid-bass with an ambitious goal: achieve extreme linearity. This means faithfully reproducing the signal without adding or hiding anything, to appreciate the musical message exactly as it was conceived by the artist and producers.
AV 3.0 II mid-range features a completely new motor layout that delivers a nearly 20% decrease in mounting depth – with no reduction in power handling, excursion, or low-end response. One way we delivered this is by using a voice coil with a 30% greater diameter.
Both mid-range and mid-bass feature powerful magnetic motors, known for releasing large amounts of energy while maintaining exceptional thermal stability. The motor reveals a T-shaped pole piece incorporating an aluminum ring. This innovative addition minimizes distortion during high excursions and linearizes the frequency response for superior clarity and precision. The geometry of the magnetic assembly was optimized using FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation software, allowing the magnetic field to be concentrated in the voice coil, improving efficiency and the precision of the sound response. This allows the drivers to deliver dynamic, distortion-free sound, even during complex and rapid music variations.
A key area of research focused on reducing voice coil inductance modulation. By magnetically saturating the motor pole and using a cooper short-circuit ring for mid-range and aluminum short-circuit ring mid-bass, greater extension towards the midrange frequencies was achieved.
Another critical aspect of development was the design of the spider and surround. The spider was designed through extensive FEM simulations to optimize the distribution of elastic force. The result is a wide elastic surface with a five-wave profile, ensuring perfect symmetry in the connection between the voice coil and basket. Additionally, the spider composition, made from a blend of two fibers, was designed to offer linear elasticity, eliminating mechanical compression even during high-excursion levels. The suspension, made from natural IIR rubber, was also designed using mechanical simulations. The suspension profile ensures wide excursion, maximizing linear elastic behavior and minimizing mechanical compression. This allows the cone to move linearly, maintaining sound control and reducing distortion even during intense sound excursions. VOCE II mid-bass has been designed to deliver a natural mechanical roll-off when off-axis, eliminating the need for a low-pass filter in most door installations. This reduces the phase shifts typically introduced by most filters, whether passive or active. A gentle 6 dB/Octave filter can be employed to slightly attenuate midrange frequencies, emphasizing the low and mid-bass tones for a richer performance.
Aerodynamic efficiency was a primary goal for both components. The die-cast aluminum basket, with four pairs of spokes, was designed to provide a rigid structure while minimizing airflow resistance around the cone. This allows the cone to move freely, improving response and reducing unwanted resonances in the mid frequencies. Multiple holes prevent air compression under the spider, eliminating harmful resonances and further improving midrange clarity. Additionally, the opening ensures optimal decompression of the air column inside the voice coil.
The cone, made from semi-pressed pulp with cotton fibers, was selected by the R&D team for its excellent acoustic and mechanical properties. Its low density and high mechanical damping contribute to an exceptionally smooth frequency response in all listening positions, delivering natural and detailed sound reproduction. Using innovative finite element calculation methods, the research team obtain an extremely rigid structure. This design allows the cone’s vibration modes (the frequencies where the cone deforms, causing response irregularities) to be shifted towards higher frequencies, leaving the entire midrange free from distortion and irregularities.
To achieve uniform acoustic energy distribution, VOCE II mid-range components were optimized to ensure consistent directivity, both on- and off-axis. This ensures that the reproduced sound remains accurate and precise, even in door or A-pillar installations, where the listener is not perfectly aligned with the speakers. The AV 3.0 II mid-range has been developed to seamlessly integrate with tweeters and woofers in a three-way system, raising the emission point to creat
e a realistic and immersive soundstage. Thanks to the optimization of the BL (force factor) and electroacoustic parameters, these components deliver superior performance even in compact enclosures, making them ideal for A-pillar and door installations.
The coaxial speaker is, in our view, the most captivating component of the entire VOCE II line. Building upon all the advanced features of the AV 6.5 P II woofer, it incorporates a 1” (25 mm) Hi-Res certified dome tweeter! While achieving Hi-Res certification for standalone tweeters was challenging, doing so for a coaxial speaker was a monumental feat, as every surrounding element—grille, woofer coil, cone profile, and even the basket design—plays a crucial role. To fully exploit its potential, we designed the coaxial to support bi-amplification, allowing it to be actively filtered and optimized for in-cabin acoustics using a DSP. At the same time, it comes equipped with separate passive crossovers for the woofer and tweeter, offering flexibility for various system configurations. The package also includes OEM-style connectors for both the woofer and tweeter, enabling seamless integration for active setups and maximizing performance in any vehicle.
The design of the AVX 6.5 II focused on enhancing the synergy between the woofer and tweeter. The woofer cone not only reproduces mid-bass frequencies accurately but also serves as a waveguide for the tweeter, boosting overall performance. This integration allows the tweeter to benefit from the acoustic loading provided by the cone, improving both low-frequency response and the precision and clarity of mid-high frequencies.
A crucial aspect of the AVX 6.5 II design was sound dispersion, particularly important for a coaxial speaker typically installed in car doors. The woofer and tweeter work together to deliver optimal dispersion, ensuring sound is well distributed throughout the cabin, regardless of the listeners’ seating positions. This characteristic guarantee full immersion in the sound experience, without compromise.
Another standout feature of the AVX 6.5 II is its powerful magnetic assembly. The woofer is equipped with a 1.5” (38 mm) voice coil and the tweeter has a 1” (25 mm) coil. This configuration allows both drivers to work in perfect synergy, with the woofer’s motor actively supporting the tweeter’s performance. Thanks to this powerful interaction, the coaxial system delivers precise, dynamic, and distortion-free sound. The AVX 6.5 II sets a new performance standard for coaxial speakers in the car audio world.
Finally, the tweeter’s refined mesh grille not only protects the driver but also adds a high-end aesthetic touch. This coaxial stands out not only for its technical performance but also for its meticulously designed appearance.
The AVX 6.5 II sets a new benchmark in coaxial speaker design by incorporating dedicated crossover technology and offering the flexibility of active filtering options.
AVX 6.5 II includes two independent crossovers: one for the woofer and one for the tweeter. This innovative approach allows precise control over the frequency range of each driver, ensuring seamless integration for superior performance.
By separating the crossover functionalities, the AVX 6.5 II achieves:

Reproducing low frequencies with authority, precision and dynamic control is essential for achieving a realistic and immersive sound experience. For the VOCE II line, the Audison R and D team set a bold objective: design subwoofers capable of delivering powerful, articulate bass while maintaining tonal balance and mechanical reliability, even under the most demanding conditions.
To achieve this, the AV 10 II and AV 12 II subwoofers were engineered from the ground up, incorporating advanced materials, proprietary technologies and extensive FEM simulations to refine every acoustic and mechanical parameter.
At the core of the VOCE II subwoofers is a 550-watt RMS rated motor assembly featuring a 1.5 inch, 38.6 millimeter, CCAW voice coil. The lightweight Copper Clad Aluminum Wire coil provides an optimal balance between electrical conductivity and mass, improving transients and minimizing dynamic compression. To ensure mechanical stability during high excursions, the motor includes the Radial Reinforcement Framework, RRF, a network of internal braces beneath the cone. This structure dramatically increases rigidity, reducing deformation and ensuring consistent performance over time.
The subwoofers’ cones feature a semi pressed pulp composition for a lightweight yet stiff diaphragm, capable of withstanding the high pressures of low frequency reproduction without sacrificing speed or accuracy. The extended profile dust cap, designed with FEM software, not only enhances rigidity but also aligns with the refined styling of the VOCE II line. This combination delivers tight, distortion free bass, faithful to the original signal, with a frequency response tailored for musicality, not just brute force.
Thermal control is paramount for high power subwoofers. VOCE II subwoofers implement Airflow Venting Cooling, AVC, a proprietary ventilation system that channels air through internal cavities to cool the voice coil and prevent thermal compression. This ensures stable performance even at prolonged high SPL levels. To simplify integration, both the AV 10 II and AV 12 II are equipped with spring loaded side terminals, 8 AWG ready, and dual integrated cable routing hooks, a clean, professional solution for installations in compact enclosures or challenging spaces.
Maximizing subwoofer performance in real world installations requires more than just a high-quality driver. It demands an acoustically tuned, mechanically optimized enclosure. The VOCE II AVBX 10 II and AVBX 12 II sealed boxes were developed in parallel with their respective subwoofers to form a complete, ready to use low frequency solution.
The AVBX enclosures feature an ultra-shallow sealed design that allows installation in constrained spaces, such as under seats or in tight trunk corners, without sacrificing low frequency performance. Designed through iterative FEM modeling, the enclosures are acoustically optimized to complement the natural response of the AV subwoofers, enhancing punch, clarity and extension.
Each enclosure is built from 15 millimetres, 0.59-inch, high density MDF panels, chosen for their damping properties and structural integrity. Internal bracing is strategically placed to reduce panel resonances and vibrations, preserving the precision and tonal definition of the bass output. This results in a clean, well-controlled response that integrates seamlessly with front stage components, maintaining sonic coherence across the entire system.
A standout feature of the VOCE II boxes is the Sub Smart Plug, SSP, terminal, which combines Plug and Play quick release functionality with traditional push terminals. This dual mode connection system streamlines installation and simplifies serviceability while supporting high current applications. To further enhance adaptability, the enclosures adopt the 2S² dual orientation design, allowing for Down Firing installation, ideal for deeper bass extension and concealment, or Up Firing positioning to maximize punch and impact. The result is a fully integrated subwoofer solution that offers VOCE II level sonic performance, installation flexibility and a refined aesthetic, elevating the low frequency foundation of any high-end car audio system.
