Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Rupert Sanders' remake of The Crow starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs in the leading roles. The film is set for release on June 7 this year and is highly anticipated by fans of the original.
Both the 1994 cult classic version starring the late Brandon Lee and the remake are based on the graphic novel by James O'Barr. The film follows musician Eric Draven, when he and his fiancee are murdered by members of a gang the night before their wedding.
A year on, Draven rises from the dead, becoming the Crow to avenge the murders, tracking down those responsible. No stranger to darker roles Skarsgård, has previously played Pennywise in IT.
Thirty years on from the release of The Crow, Skarsgård takes on the role Bruce Lee's son, Brandon once played. Lee tragically died on the set during the filming of a scene in which his character was supposed to get shot by a Magnum revolver.
It which was supposed to fire a blank round, but the blank discharged a round that had become lodged in the barrel from a previous misfire. The gun had been improperly prepared and checked, the projectile fired at him at almost the same force as a real bullet.

Lee fell back after it was fired and lay still on his back when the director stayed 'cut', with filming staff believing he was still acting. However, it was soon apparent he had been shot and later died from his wound.
The incident now sees the coming remake of The Crow under scrutiny, with some people claiming the film should be left alone out of respect for Lee. Reacting to the trailer on YouTube, bioneotokyo1 said: "A film that just didn't need a remake."
CrooklynKnight wrote: "Yeah, Brandon Lee, you'll never be topped. This feels like a Sony spiderman spinoff." Meanwhile, user-mx1ii9uc7f simply wrote: "Brandon Lee Never Dies."
Others were more positive, with X user teddy_blackmon saying: "I was skeptical at first but nahh im in let's goooo." Another user, therealFreddy85, said: "Thought I was gonna really hate it because I love the orginal so much but I'm not mad at the trailer"
