Following months of speculation, it has been confirmed by Oscars insiders that Ryan Gosling will perform 'I'm Just Ken' from Barbie at the upcoming awards show. The news has been met with excitement from most fans, while others pleaded with the star to 'move on'.
Speaking to Variety, insiders confirmed to the entertainment outlet that the 96th annual Academy Awards will feature Gosling performing as Ken one last time. The song has been a chart hit and is even nominated for Best Music at the Oscars.
Reacting to the news, fans took to X to express their thoughts, with Fabledfool writing: "It's actually happening. Dreams really do come true." While Rawrkristina added: "Doesn't matter that he isn't winning. He's still gonna steal the show."
Hinting at criticism, Villainsaints said: "I don't care what anyone says! I love the song and I can't wait to see him perform it live."
Not everyone has been so positive, with some appearing to be bored by Gosling's Ken and the Barbie film media behemoth. Gaylostboys posted: "someone please free Ryan Gosling from the shackles of this song I'm begging."
Others appear to have had 'Kenough' of Gosling in the role, with 14YoureOver saying: "I feel we've gone past the "making a barbie movie all about kens" phase into now Ryan Gosling is just a bit too attached to that role and cant move on yet."
Belemciagaa added: "Ryan Gosling is reaching the cusp of me telling him to move on and get a job…I don't want to do that."
Alongside the Best Music (Original Score) nomination which Mark Ronson wrote with Andrew Wyatt, Gosling is nominated for Best Supporting Actor. 'I'm Just Ken' isn't the only Barbie song to be nominated, however, with 'What Was I Made For?' by Billie Eilish and Finneas going up against Ken's anthem. Eilish and Finneas' song has already received recognition, winning the Grammy for best song written for visual media.
