Once hailed as one of Bristol’s main attractions that was designed to entertain people of all ages, Upside Down House Bristol has now shut its doors.
Opening in November 2019 at Cribbs Causeway, this was the franchise’s fourth site in the UK and offered a zero gravity experience as well as a quirky photo-op inside an inverted pastel pink house.
The two storey house was known to be fully furnished with a kitchen, bathroom, living room art and bedroom that exuded a Barbie doll-esque aesthetic.

However, Upside House Bristol have announced that the branch has been permanently shut since May 2 this year, with the franchise in the midst of development to set up in Skegness, Lincolnshire.
Known to have been a unique experience for the family, attendees were able to visit Upside Down House to walk on the ceiling, climb on kitchen cabinets and simply make the impossible possible at the upside down home.
Previous visitors have voiced their opinions on Upside Down House Bristol and had plenty to say on the franchise which ranged from ‘bizarre’ to ‘pricey’.
One of the last reviews of Upside Down House on TripAdvisor wrote: “Had a wonderful time @UDHouseUK in Bristol with my daughter today at this bizarre topsy-turvy house!
“We were only in there for thirty minutes but we had the whole house to ourselves to practice some fun photography.”
Meanwhile a second user labelled their trip to Upside House as “pricey for a fairly average visit” as they wrote: “A fairly average experience - we were in and out in 10 minutes which for £20 for the four of us seems a little pricey.
“Some good photo opportunities but just not enough. For the money, would be good if someone took you round and took family photos of you to maximise the effects you could capture."
While plans of future branches in the South West have yet to be decided or announced, Upside Down House has since confirmed the closing in Bristol and stated that they are hoping to work towards opening more houses.
A representative from Upside Down House said: “We were pleased to bring a smile to the people of Bristol and Somerset during our two years at Cribbs Causeway. With this in mind it was time for our pastel pink house to go on a new adventure to Skegness, which is now open and delighting the vast visitors to the seaside town.
“In the same way we recently returned to Bournemouth, we would be delighted to do the same in Bristol as we work towards opening houses in more locations in the near future."
