Hello and welcome to this evening's live blog as Bristol Rovers enter the final three matches of their season with their penultimate home game, hosting Cambridge United in League One.
The U's were supposed to make their trip to the Mem in January but both sides' respective progress to the FA Cup third round saw the fixture postponed.
In terms of how significant the game is for both teams' seasons, Rovers are now just looking to finish as high as possible having returned to winning ways on the weekend at Cheltenham Town while Cambridge are closing in on securing their League One survival despite a turbulent campaign.
The visitors are now managed by Garry Monk who was understood to be a strong contender for the Rovers job before Matt Taylor got it, their third manager of the campaign following Neil Harris' shock departure for Millwall after just a few months.
Follow along for build-up, team news, live updates and post-match reaction.
Key Events
Goodnight all
The final midweek game of the season and, to be perfectly honest, I'm not mad about it. A great way to see the night games out for the campaign and now the team are in a decent spot heading into the final two matches. Enjoy the rest of your weeks!
Matt Taylor hails first half performance despite sealing victory late
Matt Taylor praised his Bristol Rovers side's first half performance against Cambridge United despite scoring their decisive winner in the 87th minute. The Gas saw a Chris Martin penalty saved while also missing a few other opportunities before coming up against a particularly resolute U's side in the second half.
More from Matt Taylor
"The first half performance deserved more. Bar a penalty or a save or a couple of misses, we’ve got to do better in those moments because that play warranted to be ahead and then that does affect the opposition because it was 0-0 they could sit a little bit deeper, hit us on the counter attack, wait for set-piece moments.
"So it was a real test of the metal of our minds in terms of how to win a game of football. Even if it had been 0-0, I know I would have been criticised but I wouldn’t have been overly frustrated with the group because their intent stayed right throughout and their recovery runs and their will to win the ball back when we did give it away or we did force it too much was excellent.
"So to get the goal in the manner we did and as late as we did was a great moment for that group because I think they’ve come through another hurdle tonight."
Matt Taylor on tonight's victory
"It’s been a while, at the Mem especially. A clean sheet and a very good goal to win the game to boot. I was really pleased with our first half performance. I think we deserved to be ahead in the game. Another missed penalty (laugh) and enough opportunities to be in a more comfortable position than we were.
"As the second half went on, certainly the way the opposition set up, it became more and more frustrating for us and we couldn’t quite force their centre-halves or their goalkeeper to work really. But then you only need one moment as long as you’ve got that clean sheet behind you and a solid basis you only need one moment of quality and thankfully it’s come in the form of a late goal."
Player ratings have dropped
We'll have reaction very shortly but player ratings have landed. Apologies for the delay, the late goal had something to do with it...
Full-time: Bristol Rovers 1-0 Cambridge United
A fully deserved three points for the Gas which really should have been more comfortable. Reaction to follow.
Cleared off the line by Hoole
Ward pushes the cross away which falls to Bennett who strikes but sees his effort cleared off the line by Hoole.
The least Rovers deserve
Thomas is found in acres of space and all the winger has to do is square it to an unmarked Martin to tap home.
Vaughan wide
The ball is headed down towards the winger who volleys first time but his effort goes well wide.
Catch from Ward
The goalkeeper must have been starting to get cold. Good catch from a cross under pressure.
Kai Kai over the bar
The Cambridge man tests his luck on the volley. Would have been some goal.
Another Rovers change
Jevani Brown replaces Brandon Aguilera. The Nottingham Forest loanee has been very lively tonight but the ball just didn't quite fall for him.
Cambridge free-kick
The visitors have the opportunity to deliver a ball from a distance slightly shorter than a corner.
Evans fires over the bar
In fairness to the midfielder, he's capable of scoring from range and hasn't been taking those sorts of shots often recently.
Rovers double change
Scott Sinclair and Elkan Baggott make way for Harry Vaughan and James Connolly.
Gassan Ahadme has replaced Macauley Bonne for the visitors.
Crossbar
Not a clue who hit the crossbar but it came from a yard out. Ball cleared out for a corner.
Free-kick for Cambridge
Out far on the right but a good opportunity to get a delivery into the area and the visitors have flirted threat from set-pieces so far.
Thomas scuffs it
The winger dribbles into the box and gets into a great position to pull the trigger but scuffs his effort.
First Rovers change
Jordan Rossiter comes off for Kamil Conteh. Straight swap and just manages his minutes. Another outstaning 50 minutes in the tank.
Players back on the pitch
Hopefully Rovers don't let Cambride off the leash. Need that breakthrough.
Half-time: Bristol Rovers 0-0 Cambridge United
The visitors have had a chance or two but Rovers have dominated proceedings so far and really should be ahead, particularly considering the penalty.
Shot blocked
Evans sees another effort blocked. How Rovers haven't scored this half I do not know...
