A fish and chip shop in Bristol has been dubbed among the best in the country. Betway has revealed the top 12 fish and chip shops to try in 2024 by exploring customers' reviews and posts on social media.
The popularity of each location was measured by a unique index score - based on the number of hashtags and views each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as TripAdvisor rankings - with the lower the overall index score the higher the ranking.
Noah's on Brunel Lock Road has made the cut coming in at number five on the list. The family-run business, which focuses on simple, fresh fish cookery and premium fish and chips, in a scenic spot overlooking the Cumberland Basin.

Noah's ranked highly thanks to its 4.9 Google rating and TripAdvisor rating of 4.5, as well as 203 hashtags on Instagram. The venue offers a range of starters from Maldon rock oysters served with shallots, red wine vinegar & lemon (£4) to 6x crisp fried prawns in sweet chili jam & lemon (£8). For mains, you can order a whole Cornish sole (£24) or wild line caught sea bass for two (£56).
Owners Daniel and Joie Rosser took over the venue in 2023 after years of dreaming of opening a fish restaurant. Earlier this year, Noah's was crowned at the National Fish and Chip Awards in the restaurant of the year category.
TripAdvisor is full of raving reviews for the Bristol fish venue. Mark W wrote: "Terrific food, great service and a brilliant location - we were introduced by friends who live in Bristol and we loved it. We'll definitely be back, next time we're down there!"
Another said: "During a walk around the Bristol Docks we stumbled across Noah's and what a find! The staff were warm and welcoming and the lunch special of fish chips and mushy peas was delicious and very reasonably priced for a sit down meal. The menu also had more sophisticated choices and the prices were very competitive. We will definitely return here with friends and family for an evening meal."
In joint first place, the fish and chip shops that are evidently loved the most by the public, were East Coast, located in Musselburgh, and Scotland and Fish Lounge, which is situated in South West London. Other popular chip shops that made the top 12 include Brockley’s Rock in Brockley, London, Peckish Fish and Chips in Camelford, Cornwall and Lighthouse Fisheries Of Flamborough, located in East Yorkshire.
