Bristol City have confirmed forward Owura Edwards will spend another season out on loan as the Robins look to give the youngster an opportunity to prove himself in a competitive first-team environment.

Edwards has joined Scottish Premiership side Ross Country on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season with a January recall option, the club have confirmed today.

The forward was sent out on two loan spells last season that took him high and low across the country in League Two.

He initially joined Exeter City at the start of the 2021/22 campaign but was recalled in January having made just three league starts and seven substitute appearances having failed to register a goal or assists for the Grecians.

Just days after returning to City in January he was lining up for Colchester United where Edwards enjoyed more success, scoring three and assisting two in 13 league appearances.

The former Bristol Inner City Football Academy pupil has one more year left on his contract at City after penning an extension around a year ago meaning it is a big 12 months for the striker's Robins career.

The Staggies manager Malky Mackay told the official club website: “Owura is a player that our recruitment department spent a significant amount of time tracking and during that process it was very clear that he is someone that would be a great addition to our group. At 21, he has gone out and proven himself across the EFL levels, really learning about the rigours of men’s football and that is great credit to him.”

“Prior to us coming to Italy, Owura came up to Dingwall to meet with us and both parties are excited about his move to the Scottish Premiership and the part he can play for Ross County.”
